A trunk show is a special event where a bridal boutique welcomes a designer’s newest or expanded collection of wedding gowns for a limited time. It gives brides the opportunity to try on gowns that may not normally be part of the boutique’s everyday collection.

And because the collection is only in the boutique for a short time, it can be a really fun opportunity to find something you wouldn’t otherwise get to see.

So… Why Is It Called a “Trunk Show”?

The name goes back to the early days of fashion, when designers would literally travel with their collections packed in trunks.

Today, there are no fashion trunks required—but the idea is still the same. A designer sends a special selection of gowns to a bridal boutique for a limited-time event.

Think of it as a designer’s pop-up collection inside your favorite bridal shop.

What Makes a Trunk Show Different?

During a regular bridal appointment, you’re shopping the gowns that are currently part of the boutique’s collection.

During a trunk show, we bring in additional gowns from a specific designer, often including brand-new styles, gowns from a recent collection, or dresses that we don't typically carry in-store.

That means you may walk in thinking you know exactly what you want…and discover your dress is one you never would have been able to try on otherwise.

Does the Designer Come to the Store?

Sometimes! While the designer themselves isn't always physically present, trunk shows are centered around showcasing their collection.

Our stylists are there to help you explore the gowns, learn about the designer, compare silhouettes and fabrics, and most importantly, figure out which dress feels like you.

Is a Trunk Show Only for Brides Who Know What They Want?

Not at all.

In fact, trunk shows can be especially fun if you’re still figuring out your bridal style.

Maybe you’ve tried on a dozen ballgowns and haven't found “the one.” Maybe you thought you wanted lace and suddenly fell in love with clean crepe. Or maybe you have absolutely no idea what you want yet!

While appointments are recommended for Saturday and Sunday, walk-ins are always welcome, especially on the weekdays!
